Production cook

We are looking for an experienced production cook (with a day a week and sunday cafe service) to make our pasties, pies, cakes and ready meals for the freezer. A flair for vegetarian cooking would be an advantage but not essential as training can be given.

As a vital part of our dedicated team the successful applicant will be a food humoured flexible team player who also works well on their own, has a keen interest in organic/local fresh food, (real muddy veggies and lots of pastry making) enjoys a busy environment and can stay calm in all situations!

30 - 35ish hours a week wage according to experience

days of work Tues, Weds, Thurs, maybe Fridays and every other Sunday.

profit share after 6 months.

2010 Horticultural apprentice (see soil association website for full details)

our next apprentice vacancy is July 2010. There is an opportunity to start work in the garden in the spring (see below) with the potential possibility of becoming an apprentice in july

it is a two year course, mainly practical with 16 day modules over the two years of theory.

we are sometimes looking for local people who are looking to work somewhere committed to growing local food to help part/time in the cafe/shop doing about two days or so a week. duties include smiling, serving customers, washing up, food prep and shelving. these may not sound very exciting jobs but if you like working in a positive team atmosphere you might well enjoy it here.

The majority of shifts include an opening (8am start) or a close (5.30 or 7 finish) and usually include weekend work. (or just weekend work)
